Another 1,099 hands of the ongoing Durrrr Challenge between Tom Dwan and Dan “jungleman12” Cates were played on Tuesday around dinnertime in the United States. The 50,000-hand contest, which is taking place exclusively at Full Tilt Poker, is now 19,335 hands through to completion and Cates leads by a monstrous $1.25 million.
Play on Tuesday stretched for a little over two hours and saw the largest pot weigh in at $108,000. Dwan took it down after a failed bluff by Cates on the river, but Cates struck back by winning a pot worth $101,000. In that hand, both players flopped trip eights, but Cates held the better kicker. The river was run twice and Cates’ superior holding came out on top both times.
