Recently, DurrrrChallenge.com sat down with Scott “dorinvandy” Dorin, who won a $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event during the 2008 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for over $600,000. Dorin has battled against Tom “durrrr” Dwan in a live $100/$200 No Limit game in Las Vegas and gave us the inside scoop on the young guns’ success.
Dorin commented, “When I played with durrrr, it was in a live full ring game, which is quite a bit different than heads-up online. He couldn’t really get out of line at the table, but he was certainly way more creative than anyone else. I think he is ahead of the curve in terms of creativity. It seems like he starts trends and new ways to counter certain plays and then everyone else picks up on them.” In essence, Dwan is the trend-setter in the industry. He’s been highly praised by his peers on shows like GSN’s “High Stakes Poker,” where he is regularly the most active player.
The Million Dollar Challenge has even piqued Dorin’s attention, along with that of the entire online poker world. The WCOOP event winner explained, “Everyone is interested in it. Even the really high-stakes players who you wouldn’t think would get caught up in poker gossip are still getting excited about this. I know I get excited when I get to railbird it!”
Dwan and Patrik Antonius haven’t played in two weeks, with the last action having occurred on March 1st. We hope to see resumption of the 50,000 hand challenge soon. After 4,178 hands, Dwan is up $140,000.
