The second installment of the Durrrr Challenge resumed between Daniel “JungleMan12” Cates and Tom “durrrr” Dwan over the weekend after weeks of inactivity. The recent session was a wash in terms of win/loss for either player, so let’s take a look at two of the bigger hands and see what happened.

Analysis
On the button, Cates makes a 3x raise, which he has done historically through the match. With Q-J of clubs, durrrr elected to flat call against JungleMan12’s As-8c. The flop hit JungleMan12 for top pair, with durrrr holding nothing but two overcards and an unlikely backdoor flush draw to running clubs. Instead of getting frisky, durrrr decided to check-call against a good-sized flop bet from JungleMan12. The queen on the turn gave durrrr top pair and this time he took the same line as the flop and check-called. Here, we’re assuming that this is for value since he knows that JungleMan12 is an agressive opponent and will fire three barrels with much worse than top pair. The river filled the backdoor flush draw, only for hearts, which neither player held. Once again, durrrr decided to check-call the river. He simply let JungleMan12 do the betting for him and on the river, Dwan decided to call and not raise.

Analysis
JungleMan12 was on the button and made a standard 3x raise, which durrrr elected not to 3bet. We know that JungleMan12 had just Ts-7d, while durrrr had Ac-9c. The flop definitely favored Cates, who flopped top pair and a gutshot straight draw to any nine in addition to a backdoor diamond flush draw. Durrrr didn’t fare as well, flopping only the gutshot, but he did have the overcard for a potential better top pair. Durrrr donk bet nearly the pot, which Cates flatted to bring an ace turn. The card paired Dwan, who donk bet top pair, but this time instead of a bluff, he did it for value. On the river with $16,800 in the pot, JungleMan12 fired at the pot and durrrr made the call for the win. The river forced a check-call from durrrr since both flush and straight draws hit. The hand played fairly normally for both players, with durrrr making a nice read and call at the river for the win.
