It was recently announced that some new big name poker pros will be joining the lineup for the 5th annual PartyPoker Premier League. The three new additions to PartyPoker Premier League V are Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil “The Unabomber” Laak, and Dan “Jungleman12” Cates, who will be joining the already impressive lineup that includes Vanessa Selbst, Patrik Antonius, Sam Trickett, Tony G, and Luke Schwartz, as well as winner of last year’s $25K Premier League Poker Mixed Game in London, Andrew Frankenberger.
PartyPoker Premier League V will take place in Vienna’s Montesino on April 4th through 10th, just before the World Poker Tour Vienna event kicks off on the 11th. Premier League V will feature a $125K buy-in and 16 players divided into two eight-player groups. Each player will play four games using the Premier League unique point system that awards $2K per point. The top three players from each group will move on to the eight-handed final table, while the fourth and fifth will face off in a series of heads-up battles (best of three) for a place in the eight-handed final.
Each group’s fourth and fifth place will play for the two more spots at the final table in a best of three heads-up battle. The final spot at the final table will be for the winner of the feature table. This player will also win a spot in the WPT World Championship.
PartyPoker will also be giving two players the chance to qualify for a seat in this major poker event. Through March 18th, satellites will run offering nine packages worth $13K for the televised qualification rounds. Two players will move on from there to the Premier League proper, complete with buy-in, spending money, and accommodations.
And if all of this isn’t enough to get you excited, PartyPoker’s 48-hour cash game, Big Game VI will run on April 11th in Vienna as well, making for an exhilarating few weeks of poker featuring three monster poker events.
Laak said on the PartyPoker Blog, “The Big Game, Premier League, and a WPT event all in one place and all at one time. Vienna here we come.”
