It’s amazing how big the swings can be in Pot Limit Omaha heads-up and that’s exactly what we’ve seen in the Durrrr Challenge. Only a couple of weeks ago, we were practically mocking Tom “durrrr” Dwan for being down almost a half-million dollars to his first challenger, Patrik Antonius. Only two sessions later, Durrrr has taken his biggest lead. The session from June 18th was a lengthy four hours, with wild swings in both players’ favor. Let’s take a look at two critical hands.

Patrik Antonius shows 7h 5c Kh 7c (two pair, Kings and Jacks)
durrrr wins $123595.50
Hand Analysis
To start the hand, we see Antonius hold 7-5-K-7 double-suited, while Dwan held K-3-J-9 double-suited to the same suits. Clearly, one of these players would overestimate their flush draw if two hearts or two clubs came on the flop. With Durrrr on the big blind, he 3bet Antonius, who quickly called. The flop came 2-K-5, with Antonius hitting two pair and a King-high flush draw, while Dwan held a pair of Kings plus a Jack-high flush draw. This spelled doom for durrrr, who was drawing to a lower flush draw and needed to hit miracle cards to take the lead. An 80-20% underdog, Dwan misplayed his hand (albeit a bit of a cooler) and check-raised pot at the flop. Antonius gladly shoved over the top and was called. Clearly, Antonius got his money in good as a huge favorite, but Dwan enjoyed the sick life by spiking his Jack on the turn, which made him a 72%-38% favorite. The river Jack gave Dwan the winning boat and a $123,595 pot.

Hand Analysis
Pre-flop, there wasn’t much advantage statistically, with durrrr holding the double-suited 9-A-T-5 and Antonius holding K-K-3-6 single-suited (but to the same diamonds that durrrr held). Durrrr popped a 3bet pre-flop, which was called by Antonius. The flop brought 2-5-10 suited to spades. With top pair, top kicker, durrrr led out and Antonius, who flopped an overpair and gutshot to a four, flat called. The three of hearts gave durrrr the lead with two pair plus redraw outs to a flush. Surprisingly, the action got hot here, with durrrr leading out for nearly pot, which Antonius raised as a 72%-28% dog. The bet was called by durrrr and the river delivered a nine of spades. Dwan checked and Antonius shoved, making a pretty gutsy move to bluff the made spade flush draw. In one of the sicker calls of the entire Durrrr Challenge, Dwan sniffed out the bluff and made the tough call, netting him a $202,773 pot.
