On Saturday, April 11th the Durrrr Challenge resumed between Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius on Full Tilt Poker. The three hour session recorded 966 hands and saw Antonius score a mind-melting $500,000 total during his entire stay at Full Tilt, including hands at the Durrrr Challenge and regular cash game tables. During his epic run Antonius managed to not only make half a million dollars in a single day but also wrestle away the Durrrr Challenge lead away from Dwan. Let’s take a look at some analysis for the last two hands posted from “Steady Pace” and break down some of the plays in the hands.

Hand Analysis
Although we’ve seen 3bets from the Big Blind regularly during the history of the challenge, this hand showed us a very rare 5bet from durrrr. During the pre-flop round we saw durrrr start with an epic hand in 9-T-J-8 double suited while Antonius held a lot worse with 5-6-7-3 single suited. With all this pre-flop action durrrr was getting it in as a 65-35% favorite and given the historically rare 5bet it was surprising that Antonius continued in the hand at that point. With $36,000 sitting in the pot, the flop came 8-T-4 and gave durrrr top two pair and a redraw to a straight while Antonius held a ton of straight outs, some of which were held by Dwan. Clearly, neither player could get away from this type of flop. Traditionally we’ve seen both get it in even lighter than this flop so it was no surprise to see the boys shove it in at the flop. Again we saw durrrr get it in as a favorite at an even better rate of 69-31% but the 6 on the turn gave Antonius the straight and Dwan drawing as a 73-27% dog who eventually airballed the river. Score the $142,986 pot to Patrik who did what he had to do at the flop with the shove and ended up hitting as a significant dog in the hand.

Hand Analysis
Given the fireworks of hands previous to this one it was a little surprising to even see the standard 3bet and call from the guys pre-flop holding such modest hands. We know that they were a coin flip pre-flop so most of the poker was going to be played post-flop. The 6-3-7 with two hearts gave Dwan top set, which we have seen him shove all in automatically in the last few sessions. Antonius held the King high flush draw and a gutshot with the flop board. Durrrr led out and Antonius raised significantly, he was shoved over the top by Dwan who in turn was called by Antonius. Dwan had to be happy getting his money in as a 62-38% favorite, which turned into the nuts at the turn when the board paired giving durrrr the boat and a $127,299 pot. Apparently Patrik’s luck during his epic day didn’t extend to this hand, and if Antonius continues to call durrrr’s flop shoves as a dog like he did in this hand, the pendulum will definitely swing back to Dwan’s way in coming sessions.
