Where Art Thou John Juanda?

Recently, DurrrrChallenge.com caught up with Full Tilt Poker pro John Juanda. One of the top minds in the industry and winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, Juanda knows what it takes to compete at the highest levels. So why isn’t one of the most recognizable names in poker battling Tom Dwan in the Durrrr Challenge? We asked him!

DurrrrChallenge.com: Playing in the nosebleeds, you’ve surely encountered Tom Dwan. Have you read about the Durrrr Challenge?

Juanda: Yeah, I have read about it and have had discussions with people about it too.

DC: Did you ever consider taking him on?

Juanda: No, I did not. To do well against another top player, you really have to be on top of your game. I think Daniel Negreanu didn’t take the challenge for the same reason. We haven’t been spending too much time playing poker lately. All of these online kids spend 15 hours a day playing online on five or six tables. It’s kind of like in sports, where you feel like you’re not in shape. Some of these kids play every day, so they are in shape. They are thinking poker all of the time. Another thing is I don’t consider myself to be an online player. I can’t even play two tables; I have a hard time playing one. When I play online, I get distracted by phone calls, instant messages, and television. I’ll be watching TV at the same time, I’ll be eating, and I’ll be talking to my assistant. When it comes to playing more than one table, I am just not used to it.
