The latest installment of PokerStars SuperStar Showdown featured PokerStars pro Viktor “Isildur1” Blom going heads up against Alexander “Kanu7” Millar. After a second loss to Isaac Haxton earlier in the month, Blom was able to get more in the black with a $37,687 come up off Millar.
Millar was the 11th opponent since the PokerStars SuperStar Showdown began, and Blom has only lost twice—both times to Haxton, this last time by only $5,000, but you can bet there will be another showdown between Blom and Haxton two before it’s over. Blom remains up at around $650K in the black.
Twenty-one-year-old Millar is from the UK and has won almost $1 million playing online at PokerStars and another $250K+ at Full Tilt Poker in the past year and a half, so you would think he’d be a pretty good match for Blom. And he was, he just didn’t bring quite enough to triumph. At previous casual cash games against Millar, Blom is up $160K.
In the SuperStar Showdown, Blom and Millar sat down at the $100/$200 NLH tables with $300K in chips to start with. Two hundred hands in, Blom had an $80K lead. By the 500th hand, Millar had taken the lead by $20K, which went up to $60K by the 1,400th hand. Then the biggest pot of the 2,500-hand session (worth $100K+) came up on the 1,625th hand, and Blom took it.
Millar then commented, “Haha he’s back, nh,” but little did he know that it wasn’t going to get any better for him. The nearly $60K lead Isildur1 had on Milar at that point was enough. By the 2,066th hand, Bloom was up nearly $150K.
In the final stretch of the session, Millar did manage to get back a $95K+ pot plus another $15K, where Isildur1 finished with just over $37K.
