As assumed by the poker community, Tom “durrrr” Dwan did in fact show up at the Aussie Millions. He made just in time to partake in the $100,000 Challenge, an event that drew only 22 players. Unfortunately for Dwan and his fans, he did not make it past the first day, nor did Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Dan Shak, Tony Bloom, or Jason Mercier.
As Day1 drew to a close, there were only eight players left, though only the top four finishers would be paid. Ivey was out in ninth place. In the end, it was Dan Smith who won the event. Mikhail Smirnov placed second, Australia’s Joe Hachem, third, and Tony G fourth.
On to the Aussie Millions Main Event… Day1B of the Aussie Millions Main Event kicked off Monday (Australia time) after 84 players were knocked out on Day1A. Day1A registration capped out at 153, which is a whopping 35% decrease from last year’s participation of Day1A. Sixty-eight Day1A survivors remain including Maria Ho, 2005 Aussie Millions Main Event champion Lee Nelson, Scot David Vamplew, and many others. Unfortunately more didn’t advance than did including Matt Jarvis, Barry Greenstein, Patrik Antonius, and many others.
The top ten who will move on to Day2 from Day1A include:

- Paul Sing with 177,100 chips
- Benjamin Jenkins with 154,500 chips
- Robert Angood with 133,200 chips
- Andrew Hinrichsen with 132,900 chips
- Elliot Smith with 132,900 chips
- David Munday with 132,500 chips
- Timothy O’Shea with 129,700 chips
- Paul Colling with 121,400 chips
- Peter Parsons with 113,700 chips
Day1B, which has already been completed in Australia, as expected, attracted 187 more registrants, making a total field for the first two days of 340 players. Day1C is expected to be the biggest, as organizers believe that many pros are waiting until Day1C to register. Some of those who made it through to Day2 include Dwan, Annette Obrestad, Jonathan Karamalikis, David Back, and James Dempsey. Jeff Rossiter, Simon Watt, Tom Koral, Marvin Rettenmaier, Vesko Zmukic, Shawn Buchanan, and Jackie Glazier are some of those who didn’t make it through to Day2.

While Dwan isn’t at the top of the list, he’s still in the running and has a great chance to go very far when Day2 commences on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Australia time.
