Durrrr Watch Continues At 2011 WSOP

Tom Dwan’s desperate bracelet chase continues at this year’s WSOP. Durrrr was one of only 126 players to enter Event #16: 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship, and he was already out his $10,000 buy-in by the end of Day 1. At least he was in good company; Doyle Brunson, Galen Hall and Carlos Mortensen were among some of the other notable early eliminations. To add insult to injury, while Dwan continues his ongoing battle for a bracelet, several other contenders have become first time WSOP winners this year. In fact, all of the WSOP events that have thus far been decided have been won by first-time titlists. With no clear frontrunner almost a third of the way into the series, it’s anyone’s guess who will get the WSOP 2011 Player of the Year. For his part, Dwan remains undeterred by his lack of success. Per today’s Twitter activity, he’s already moved… Read More »

Seven Events Down, Durrrr Still Optimistic

Thus far, Tom Dwan has bought into eight events at the 2011 WSOP. He’s already out of seven of them, but that hasn’t affected the tone of his Tweets. When a fan asked how he’s been running, durrrr replied, “No bracelets yet… Working on it tho. Should have at least 2 by end of wk.” The same day, durrrr optimistically reported that Event #9: 2-7 Draw Lowball NL had only 275 entries, so he was planning on winning. A few hours later he announced that Brian Powell had sent him to the rail, but he was already on his way to the window to pay his way into Event #10: No Limit Hold’em Six Handed. By Monday, Dwan was out of Event #10 too, but today he faced a totally different dilemma. Having entered and survived the early rounds of both Event #11: Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better Championship… Read More »

Durrrr Dispatched By Hansen In WSOP Heads Up Championship

We now know the final four for the WSOP Heads Up Championship, and despite a solid performance Tom Dwan isn’t among them. Dwan was eliminated by current fan favorite Gus Hansen at midnight of the second day, falling just one spot short of the top eight and the quarterfinals. In Day 1, durrrr took down Peter Jetten and then Bryn Kenney with very little effort or drama. Dwan also eliminated his first Day 2 opponent, Ashton Griffin. His match-up against Hansen was hailed as the feature face-off for Day 2 and dragged on until midnight. Dwan was a good sport about the loss, but apparently only because he’d already scraped some extra money off Jason Mercier via prop bets he’d made for his match against Griffin. For ninth place, Dwan earned the minimum payout of $67,436. Had he held on for one more round, he would have been guaranteed the… Read More »

Full Tilt Under Fire Following Another Lame Announcement

There’s been a lot of speculation about which pros will be leaving the U.S. to continue their online poker careers. After a heated Facebook rant on Monday, we can say with some certainty that Phil Ivey probably isn’t in any hurry to move for Full Tilt Poker. The home of the Durrrr Challenge continued to disappoint its American members this week after a much-anticipated announcement on Monday turned out to be yet another vague and anonymous apology about delays. On May 30 an FTP rep known only as “Doug” was making the rounds to all the major poker boards posting a generic message from the site apologizing yet again for delays in processing U.S. funds withdrawals. At Two Plus Two alone, the non-announcement has generated 49 pages of comments to date. Just as anyone familiar with the plight of the site’s American members might expect, those comments have degenerated from… Read More »
