Patrick and durrrr Hit the Tables Again

The Durrrr Challenge appears to be picking up the pace – certainly a welcome change – as Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius took to the felt for the second time in as many days. In case you missed it, Antonius cut into durrrr’s lead by 58K when the two world class players logged 1200 hands less than 24 hours ago. Earlier today, they played a small session that lasted three hours and 892 hands, and this time, it was durrrr who came out on top. Dwan, who weathered the storm nicely yesterday considering Patrik’s run of cards, scooped a few nice pots and ended the session up $199,442, which increases his overall lead to $1,077,932.50. While this year’s action has not been quite as furious as it has been in the past, it’s definitely nice to see Tom and Patrik playing on a regular basis, and they seem to be… Read More »

Dwan and Antonius Play First Big Session of 2010

For the first time in 2010, Patrick Antonius and Tom Dwan sat down for a session in the seemingly never-ending Durrrr Challenge. Heading into play, durrrr held a $935K advantage over Antonius after nearly 30K hands. Prior to the session, Patrick Antonius dropped upwards of $800K to Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Cole South, which perhaps fueled his desire to re-ignite the Durrrr Challange. After four hours and 1281 hands, Patrick was ahead, but he only managed to take a $58K bite out of durrrr’s lead. With 19K remaining in the challenge, durrrr retains his edge by a count of $878K. Isildur1 Briefly Returns to Full Tilt Poker

For one brief moment, Swedish online poker player Isildur1 returned to Full Tilt Poker. Just two months after headlining $500/$1,000 Pot Limit Omaha tables and creating the largest pots that the online poker world has ever seen, Isildur1 sat down at a $5/$10 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max game. Thirty hands were played and, over the course of the session, the mystery Swede saw his bankroll drop by $433. It marks a pretty shell-shocking moment for the once-dominant powerhouse on the high-stakes online poker scene. The nemesis of our two favorite Durrrr Challenge combatants, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius, Isildur1 was once up over $5 million at the tables. Then, reality in the form of variance set in, as the Scandinavian dropped like the Dow Jones Industrial Average circa September 2008. His career peak, according to PokerTableRatings.com, was $5.04 million, which he recorded on November 15th. Within a week, he had… Read More »

Patrik Antonius Appears on Face the Ace

In the final episode of the NBC poker franchise “Face the Ace,” Durrrr Challenge participant Patrik Antonius took center stage. In poker’s version of the United Nations, Antonius, a Fin now living in Monte Carlo, played heads-up against French native Nico Mamy, whose wife taught him the ropes of poker. Antonius was Mamy’s $40,000 “ace.” Only a few hands of the encounter were shown. Each player began with a starting stack of 20,000 and blinds started at 200-400. Antonius showed his familiar aggressive spirit throughout much of the action, including raising to 1,200 pre-flop with 10-3 and receiving a call from Mamy, who held A-5 of diamonds. The flop came J-J-6, Antonius fired out a continuation bet of 2,000, and Mamy mucked. The Million Dollar Challenge personality recorded a suckout after checking his option pre-flop with J-6 against Mamy’s K-10. The flop came 3-5-10, giving Mamy top pair, and the… Read More »
