How to Make a Boat Without Really Trying

In Monday’s play in the Durrrr Challenge, the word of the day was “boat,” as both Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius crafted arks. We sat down with PokerXFactor instructor Chris “Fox” Wallace to walk through two hands of the Million Dollar Challenge. In the first hand, Dwan raised to $1,200 pre-flop, Antonius pushed the action to $3,600, and Dwan called. The flop came 2-4-8 with two spades and Antonius checked. Dwan bet $4,200, Antonius raised to $19,800, and Dwan called. A four of clubs hit the turn, Antonius bet, and Dwan called all-in. The river 10 of spades completed the flush possibility. Dwan turned over 2-6-8-4 for a full house, while Antonius showed 6-K-J-Q with two spades for a flush. DurrrrChallenge.com: Dwan raised pre-flop with four low cards and only two of one suit. What happened? Wallace: Durrrr raised with one of the worst hands in Omaha pre-flop. He… Read More »

Antonius Regains Lead with Tuesday Session

Patrik Antonius and durrrr put in some serious time at the Challenge tables Tuesday evening with a session that lasted for nearly four hours and logged a total of 1,241 hands. Antonius’ upswing from Monday continued once again and, at one point, Patrik had nearly $1 million spread across the four Challenge tables. By the end of the day, durrrr’s $750K he held for the past two months was erased completely and Antonius took the overall lead by a margin of $76,104. At the conclusion of play on Tuesday, the two players have racked up a total of 22,683 hands. During the session Antonius had an even larger lead thanks to some big hands in which he flopped a set of kings to durrrr’s set of threes and also got it all-in with a flopped straight to durrrr’s set and bigger straight draw and his hand held up. Thanks to… Read More »

Why Isn’t Durrrr a Full Tilt Pro?

This week on the ESPN.com poker franchise “Inside Deal,” Full Tilt Poker pro Howard Lederer joined the show, which is hosted by poker columnist Bernard Lee and “ESPN: The Magazine” contributor Laura Lane. A question submitted by a viewer for Lederer asked why Tom “durrrr” Dwan, one-half of the Million Dollar Challenge, is not a Full Tilt sponsored pro. Lederer’s response indicated that the online poker site is open to bringing aboard the youngster: “Of this young crop of internet pros, I don’t think there’s any question that Durrrr’s the best player and certainly the most dynamic player. I’m sure that Full Tilt Poker would love to have him. I think it’s just a matter of Full Tilt Poker and Durrrr working out a fair price. I don’t think there’s anything in the way of that happening, except for both sides making it happen… One of these days, it’ll be… Read More »

Patrik Picks Up Almost $400K

Even though summer isn’t over just yet, it appears as though Patrik Antonius and durrrr are back at the grind after a lengthy vacation from Challenge play. Maybe it is because summer is winding down, maybe it is because durrrr’s got some extra cash on hand thanks to action from the mysterious “martonas”. Who knows? What we do know is that the two high stakes pros put in a two and a half hour session this afternoon in which the momentum swung back Patrik’s way as he picked up nearly $400,000 on the day. Play resumed at around 11:30AM ET and continued until just before 2PM. Over the course of the session the duo put in 795 hands, most of which went Antonius’ way as he picked up a total of $392,347.50 on the day. His big win cut durrrr’s overall challenge lead in half and he is now up… Read More »

Tom Dwan Appears on “2 Months, $2 Million”

With action non-existent in the Tom Dwan Million Dollar Challenge, “durrrr” has found ample ways to pass the time, most recently appearing on the G4 online poker reality show “2 Months, $2 Million.” The franchise follows four online poker players as they seek to earn $2 million in – you guessed it – two months. The ensemble includes Dani Stern, Emil Patel, Brian Roberts, and Jay Rosenkrantz, four friends in real life. On the show’s premiere episode, which aired last Sunday, August 16th at 9:00pm ET, the group dined at AquaKnox at the Venetian and were joined by none other than our favorite protagonist, Tom “durrrr” Dwan. Flanking him was Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. The top-tier online poker players gave the “2 Months, $2 Million” cast a pep talk heading into their monumental feat. Each week of the show on G4 follows a week of action from the house in Las… Read More »
