Winning $88,000 Dwan Style

I’ve really developed an admiration for Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius while writing for DurrrrChallenge.com. I don’t think you can find two more fearless players than these two. Day in and day out, they literally risk hundreds of thousands of dollars on the virtual and brick and mortar felts. Despite the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) taking place, Dwan and Antonius found some time to tango in a 215 hand session. Let’s look at one of the battles. Dwan had $115,000 to start the hand, while Antonius had just $44,000 to his name. Our typical bet, raise, call action occurred pre-flop, with Dwan making it $1,200, Antonius bumping the action to $3,600, and Dwan calling. The flop came 4-5-7 rainbow and the fireworks began. Antonius led out for $6,000, Dwan made it $17,200, Antonius pushed for just over $40,000, and Dwan called the extra $23,000. The turn and… Read More »

Mini Session

It’s nice to see that Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius can make a little bit of time for their challenge even though the WSOP events have started and the world’s attention is focused at the poker tables in Las Vegas. They played a small session that took 39 minutes of their time and logged 215 hands. This session has been the only one in the durrrr challenge that has not seen a pot that goes over $89k, that’s weird considering they are aggesive players. The lead by Patrik has been cut back by $36k. But at least there was some action at the durrrr challenge tables and we hope to see some more action in the following days. Dwan Versus Antonius WSOP Last Longer

If you’re looking for an excuse to take your love of the Tom Dwan Million Dollar Challenge and apply it to the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Bodog has posted a last longer bet just for you. The prop bet is one of several that read, “Which of the following players will last longest in the 2009 WSOP Main Event (Event #57)?” In order for the bet to have action, at least one of the two Durrrr Challenge participants must finish in the money. Curiously, both players are at –120 at the time of writing; neither is a favorite. The line means that betting $120, for example, will earn a person $100. So who will it be? Who’s your horse? The 2009 WSOP Main Event kicks off on July 3rd from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with the first of four starting days. The event… Read More »

How to Win $200,000

On the final day of May in the Tom Dwan Million Dollar Challenge, the youngster scooped a massive $200,000 pot. His rival, Patrik Antonius, mucked in the hand in question. So how did Dwan win $200,000? DurrrrChallenge.com enlisted the help of PokerXFactor.com instructor Chris “Fox” Wallace to find out. Pre-flop, Dwan made it $1,200, Antonius raised to $3,600, and Dwan called. The flop came 8-10-8 and Antonius put out a bet of $5,200. Dwan popped the action to $15,900 and Antonius called the remaining $10,700. An ace fell on the turn, prompting Antonius to check-call a healthy $27,600 bet from Dwan. The river came a queen. Antonius checked, Dwan shoved for just over $53,000, and Antonius called. When the cards were flipped up, Dwan showed 9-10-10-A for a flopped boat and Antonius mucked. DurrrrChallenge.com: What does Antonius’ pre-flop betting tell you about his hand? Wallace: There is no way that… Read More »

15k + Hands Have Been Played

The durrrr challenge started at the beginning of the year and created a big buzz in the poker world, everyone wanted to railbird the action at the challenge tables on Full Tilt Poker. It was a big expectation to see the action at the nose bleed table limits, but something that most people did not see coming was the slow action in the challenge; it took them more than three months to reach 15k hands. Now the WSOP events have started and Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius will most likely take part in the big events, so the challenge will be affected and will see less action. But hopefully the players will have the challenge as a priority and will continue to play it out. There last session logged 874 hands and lasted a few minutes under three hours, Patrik increased his lead by $23k which at their table… Read More »
