Hand Analysis from May 4th Session

Another day, another great run by Patrik Antonius who at this point is squarely whipping Tom Dwan to the tune of a cool half million dollars. Let’s not forget that if Dwan loses the challenge by even $1 over 50k hands, he has to fork over another $1.5 million! By that point Dwan might be next in line to GM for a government bailout. To put a new spin from a famous Rocky III line, Antonius might be able to say “I reject the Durrrr Challenge because there IS NO challenge!” or at least something to that effect. Let’s take a look at some of the hands from the May 4th session. Top Two Holds for $125K Full Tilt Poker $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha Hi – 2 players durrrr (BB): $177596.00 Patrik Antonius (BTN/SB): $62394.00 Pre Flop: ($600.00) Patrik Antonius raises to $1200, durrrr raises to $3600, Patrik Antonius calls… Read More »

Tom Dwan Shows Down a Pair of Queens?

Here’s another hand that will blow your socks off from the May 4th installment of the Durrrr Challenge. In it, Patrik Antonius bet $1,200 pre-flop, Tom “durrrr” Dwan bumped it to $3,600, Antonius made it $6,000, and Dwan called the $2,400 needed. The flop came J-2-8 with two hearts. Dwan led out for $8,600, prompting a call from his adversary. The turn was the five of clubs. Dwan bet $29,200, Antonius pushed all-in for over $60,000, and Dwan called. The river was the king of diamonds. At showdown, Dwan flipped up 8d-Qc-9d-Qh for a pair of queens, while Antonius revealed As-8h-10s-5h for two pair. Not even on a busted flush draw, Dwan went to showdown with one of the worst hands we’ve seen exposed so far. As a consequence, Antonius scooped another $150,000, padding his lead over the youngster. DurrrrChallenge.com sought the input of our trusted PokerXFactor.com pro Chris “Fox”… Read More »

Antoinus Wins $150,000 in Second Pot of the Day

It’s always good to start a session off right. In the case of the May 4th confrontation between Patrik Antonius and Tom “durrrr” Dwan, the former competitor raked in a $150,000 pot right off the bat. In the hand, Dwan made it $1,200 pre-flop, Antonius raised to $3,600, Dwan pumped it to $10,800, and Antonius called the extra $7,200. The flop came Q-4-9 with two hearts. Patrik Antonius: No Books, No Coach, No Problems

In this week’s episode of GSN’s High Stakes Poker, viewers were granted a unique look at Durrrr Challenge participant Patrik Antonius’ poker background. Its contents may shock you! In a short feature, he explained, “No one has ever taught me a single thing about poker. I’ve never read a book, not a single page. I’ve never taken a lesson from anyone. It’s very good to play to figure out yourself. You have to use your own imagination, think all of the situations through, and [determine] what would be the best options. When you make mistakes, you try to remember those and not make them again.” The result: One of the most successful and popular poker players in the world battling for a $1.5 million payday against Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

Patrik Extends Lead to Nearly Half a Million

We’ve all experienced the frustration of disconnecting in the middle of a big hand, but durrrr’s connectivity problems yesterday might have been a blessing in disguise. Patrik and durrrr put in a one hour session with 290 hands from around 11:15pm to 12:15am ET. While the session didn’t last long, the damage to durrrr’s bankroll was noteworthy as he sustained a $328,000 loss. Patrik’s big session last night propelled him to the biggest lead of the Challenge so far with $488,133 in profits over 13,246 hands. The deadline for our prediction contest is looming, so get your pick in before its too late. Shortly after the session began, durrrr’s internet cut out and it happened a second time later on in the session. After a frustrating hour in which he seemed to miss every draw in pots over $100K, durrrr decided to call it a night. Here is the chat… Read More »

Flush Over Flush Equals Double Up

We always hear about players getting caught in set over set situations. However, in Monday’s running of the Durrrr Challenge, we saw our two heroes tangle in a flush over flush pot. Tom “durrrr” Dwan held Qh-4d-10h-Kd, while Patrik Antonius was dealt 7h-8s-5s-8h. Pre-flop, Antonius bet $1,200, Dwan made it $3,600, and Antonius called. The flop came 6h-Kh-7c. Dwan checked, Antonius led out for $6,000, Dwan raised to $25,200, and Antonius elected to just call. Both competitors saw the ten of clubs on the turn. Dwan pushed for his remaining stack of $40,000 and Antonius made the call. The river brought the nine of hearts, giving both players a flush. However, Dwan’s queen of hearts in the hole made a better flush, doubling the youngster up. DurrrrChallenge.com enlisted the brain of PokerXFactor instructor Chris “Fox” Wallace to break down the action. DurrrrChallenge: Take us through this hand. Wallace: The flop… Read More »

The flop came J-K-10 with two diamonds and Dwan check-called a $9,200 bet from Antonius. The turn came the two of diamonds. Dwan checked, Antonius bet $20,800, and Dwan once again just called. After the queen of hearts fell on the river, Dwan checked, Antonius pushed all-in for nearly $30,000, and Dwan called. After firing out shell after shell, Antonius flipped over A-A-8-6 for a pair of aces, while Durrrr turned over a king-high flush. DurrrrChallenge.com enlisted the aid of PokerXFactor instructor Chris “Fox” Wallace to determine the logic in this hand by our two favorite combatants.
